Anyone aged 14 and older who is passionate about the sports offered by able athletics can volunteer.
You do not need to play the sport you are volunteering for.
It's essential that our volunteers embody maturity, respect, and responsibility. additionally, they must successfully complete mandatory onboarding training before interacting with our team of athletes. This approach ensures that our volunteers are well-prepared to share their love for the sport with the disability community in a supportive and effective manner.

Volunteer registration typically opens 1–2 months before the start of a program.
Our volunteer capacity is determined by the number of athletes enrolled so we can maintain a balanced 1:1 or 2:1 support ratio and ensure every participant has a meaningful experience.
If registration appears closed or you’re unable to sign up, we are either at capacity or have not yet opened volunteer registration for that program. Follow us on social media and join our newsletter to be notified when new opportunities become available.

Athlete registration closes as the season approaches so our therapists and coaches have time to review each athlete’s needs and plan any necessary adaptations.
We do allow mid-season registration, but ask that families speak with our team beforehand to ensure we’re fully prepared to support a successful experience.

We believe our programming provides a safe space for individuals of all ages to work on socialization, executive functioning and gross and fine motor skills. Due to shared space and safety concerns, ages 5- 21 years old are welcome to participate in our youth programming. Adult ages 22+ programming is available at times as well.

No. Our programming is designed to meet every child at their unique developmental stage. Our coaches and volunteers are guided by our occupational and physical therapists to ensure every athlete is met with the appropriate adaptations and support.
-
Although we make an effort to prepare our volunteers to be dynamic with their approach sometimes the athletes just want to run around the field, or just sit in the goal… The whole session… And that’s ok. Our volunteers will support your athlete throughout the session, however they choose to engage.

What sets our programming apart in the adaptive sports community is our close collaboration with therapists, educators, healthcare professionals, and professional coaches. All volunteers are required to complete mandatory training, and licensed therapists are on site each session to support both athletes and volunteers. Every athlete’s unique abilities and needs are thoughtfully considered each time we take the field.

No. Thanks to the generous donations from our supporters, we are able to provide equipment to every athlete, for every session.
